so, you guys know how there's been a lot of hype around the steam machine? well, shuhei yoshida, the former president of sony, just got his hands on one and his thoughts are pretty... underwhelming. he's only had it for a few hours, but he's already noticing some major issues with performance.

i'm talking about the 3d performance being just, meh. like, it's not terrible or anything, but it's definitely not blowing anyone away. and the fact that the system recommends defaulting to 1080p? that's just wild. it's like, didn't we leave that resolution behind ages ago? yoshida even compared it to the ps4 days, which is kinda sad. i mean, i love my ps4, but it's not exactly the most powerful console out there.

one thing that really stands out to me is how long it takes for some games to boot up. like, what is it even doing during that time? yoshida mentioned it takes a "looooooong" time, and i'm curious to know if that's just a one-time thing or if it's a persistent issue. on the other hand, he did say that the system ui is easy to use, which is a plus. and, of course, being able to play steam games on your living room tv is a major perk.
