so, you guys know i'm super into marathon, and season 2 just kicked off - it's like, a total fresh start for everyone, with all gear getting wiped. this week is also free-to-play, which is awesome for anyone who hasn't checked it out yet.

i'm pretty stoked about the new "pvp-lite" mode, sponsored survival, even though it sounds kinda like a weird sidestep for people like me who are all about pve. basically, you drop into this creepy map called night marsh with your crew, and at first, you're the only ones there - just you, some annoying drones, and a few new shadowy enemies to deal with.

as you play, though, other players will start showing up on the map after a bit, and things can get pretty intense. there's this 18-minute timer that starts counting down, and when it hits zero, you've got to make a break for the exit - it's up to you whether you team up with the other players or start shooting each other. you can play this mode solo, in duos, or with a full crew, which is pretty cool.

one thing that's got me a bit worried is that this new mode might split the player base too much - we don't want a bunch of empty queues, right? and, honestly, sponsored survival doesn't really sound like my cup of tea - i mean, i love playing solo, and this mode just seems like more of the same, but with a few extra risks.
