omg, you guys, i just heard about this wild story involving a fake interview with mackenyu arata, the actor from the live-action one piece adaptation. apparently, esquire singapore published a feature on him, but here's the thing - the interview was totally generated by ai. like, they didn't even actually talk to the guy.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around this, but basically, the magazine used some ai tools called claude and copilot to create responses from mackenyu based on his previous interviews. and then they just presented it as a real interview, which is pretty messed up if you ask me. i mean, i've seen some weird things in my time browsing the internet, but this takes the cake. it's like they're trying to pass off fan fiction as actual journalism or something.

the interview itself is pretty cringeworthy, with the ai-generated responses sounding super vague and unnatural. it's like they're trying to make mackenyu sound deep and profound, but really he just sounds like a robot. and the questions they're asking him are so random, like about his experiences as a father and how he deals with disillusionment. it's all just a bit too much for me.
i'm not the only one who's upset about this, either. a lot of people are calling out esquire for being deceptive and dishonest, and i have to agree. it's not cool to pretend like you're having a real conversation with someone when really you're just generating fake responses. and the fact that they're using ai to do it just makes it even weirder. preorders are available at major retailers, but i'm not sure i'd want to support a magazine that does this kind of thing.
