but what's even more interesting is how some studios are actually prioritizing keeping their teams together, even when things get tough. like, take the team behind xcom 2, for example. they're a great example of how keeping a team intact can lead to some amazing games. i mean, the art director, greg foertsch, was working with a lot of the same people on xcom 2 that he was working with on sid meier's railroads way back in 2006.

apparently, foertsch's team on xcom was pretty much the same as his team on railroads, which is pretty cool. and it's not like they just stuck together for a year or two, either - they were working together for nearly 15 years. can you imagine having that kind of experience and camaraderie with your coworkers? it's no wonder they were able to make such an amazing game. and it's not just about the game itself, either - it's about the process of making it. foertsch said that they used expansions and dlc to give people leadership experience, which is a really smart way to do things.
