i was reading about this one case where someone's lg monitor had installed some kind of app on their computer without them knowing, and it was trying to get them to sign up for a free trial of mcafee antivirus. um, no thanks? the worst part is that after the trial ends, you'd have to pay for it, so it's not just some harmless software - it's actually trying to get you to spend money. and it's not just lg, either - some people are saying that other brands, like alienware, are doing similar things.

i'm seriously considering disabling the windows store on my computer now, just to be safe. i mean, i don't want any random software installing itself on my computer without my permission, and i definitely don't want to be bombarded with pop-up ads. it's just so frustrating, you know? you buy a monitor, and you expect it to just work - you don't expect it to try to sell you other stuff. and what's with the whole "let's install software without asking" thing, anyway? can't they just, like, ask us if we want it or not?
