hey guys, so you know how intel has been going through a pretty rough patch lately? well, it looks like they're finally starting to turn things around. their latest earnings report is actually pretty promising, with revenue, margins, and earnings per share all coming in above expectations. i'm not gonna lie, i was a bit skeptical at first, but it seems like they're really working hard to get back on track.

one of the things that caught my eye was the update on their foundry business. if you remember, intel's ceo tan was talking about potentially halting development on their cutting-edge process nodes if they didn't find a big customer or meet certain goals. but now, he's sounding super positive about the whole thing, saying that their factories are exceeding internal volume targets and that they're making good progress on their roadmap. it's pretty cool to see them making strides in areas like intel 18a, which is used for core ultra 3 panther lake chips.

i'm also intrigued by the rumors that nova lake processors might be returning to intel 18a after initially being planned for production using tsmp's foundry. it's hard to say if there's any truth to this, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on. and looking further out, tan is talking about the progress they're making on intel 14a, which is supposedly on track for risk production in the second half of '27 and high-volume production in '28. that's still a ways off, but it's exciting to think about what kind of gaming pcs we might see in the future.

of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows - intel's foundry work is still pretty expensive, and they're operating at a loss of $2.1 billionRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
