omg, you guys, have you heard about sony's plans to ditch physical media? like, what even is the point of having a console if we can't buy actual games to hold in our hands? it's all just feels so... soulless. and apparently, i'm not the only one who thinks so - the creator of the disgaea series, sohei niikawa, just shared his thoughts on the matter and i am totally here for it.



so, sony announced that they're going to stop making and selling physical game copies, and the backlash has been pretty intense. niikawa got real about it in an interview, saying that while he gets why sony would want to make the switch from a business perspective, it's just not something he's on board with. and honestly, same. there's something so special about having a physical copy of a game, you know? like, being able to hold it in your hands and admire the cover art, or getting it signed by the devs at a con.



niikawa took it a step further and said that if sony is going to get rid of physical games, they might as well just ditch the hardware too. like, what's the point of having a console if we're just going to be streaming games or downloading them digitally? we could just play on our tvs or pcs and call it a day. it's a pretty bold statement, but i can see where he's coming from. it's just... there's something so nostalgic about popping a game into your console and hearing that disc spin up.
