ok, so you guys have probably heard of the sinking city, a lovecraftian horror game that came out a while back. it was pretty cool, but also kinda rough around the edges. anyway, the sequel is coming out later this year, and i just got to hear about some of the new features and improvements they're making. apparently, the sinking city 2 is gonna be way more focused on survival horror, with narrower corridors and more intense thrills.

i'm really excited about this, because let's be real, there aren't that many games out there that do justice to the creepy, cosmic horror vibe of lovecraft's works. resident evil and silent hill are awesome, but they're not exactly the same thing. the sinking city 2 seems like it's trying to fill that gap, with a protagonist named calvin who has to navigate a flooded massachusetts town and deal with all sorts of eldritch horrors. and, of course, there are safe rooms where you can save your game and catch your breath, which is always a nice touch.

one of the things that Caught my attention is the new investigation system, which lets you connect the dots between different clues and documents you find throughout the game. it's kinda like a puzzle, and you even get rewards for solving it, which is pretty cool. i love games that make me feel like a real detective, you know? and the fact that you have to use your brain to figure out some of the puzzles is a big plus in my book. i'm also intrigued by the setting, which includes places like the decayed streets of arkham and the akeley memorial hospital - it all sounds very creepy and atmospheric.
