omg, you guys, i think we might finally know what the second job in final fantasy 14: evercold is going to be. i've been following the community's detective work, and it's getting pretty convincing that it's going to be some kind of bird tamer with a crossbow. i know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out.



the lead composer, masayoshi soken, dropped some major hints at the last fanfest, and people have been piecing together the clues. there are these audio clips where you can hear a magical charge-up, a crossbow-like sound, and then an explosion. and then there's this trailer where a miqo'te girl is messing with a wand-like thing that looks suspiciously like a crossbow bolt. it's all pretty intriguing.



one of the coolest things about this potential new job is the tie to norse mythology. birds are a big deal in those stories, and it would be so cool to see that incorporated into the game. plus, the whole idea of a ranged physical dps job with a crossbow and a bird companion is just, like, totally my vibe. i love the idea of having a pet bird that can attack enemies and stuff.

now, i know some of this is still just speculation, but it's all pretty convincing to me. even the bugged lalafell jump animation that was floating around a few months ago seems like it could be related to the new job. apparently, the lalafell is holding something that looks like a crossbow, and it's just, like, totally possible that this is a sneak peek at the new job. preorders are available at major retailers, so i'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this.
