It earned me a bucketload of uncle points

I may be very late to the party with this discovery, but I only just realised you can connect your Steam Wishlist to a third-party deals tracker. The beauty of which is that, once hooked up, you can see what games you've been pining for are going cheap not just on Steam but through any major shopfront across the internet.

I worry that I will be coming across as 'Use this one trick to save money – greengrocers hate it!', but it's already helped save my nephew more than £40. Even if it meant using a slightly underhand method.

Two weeks ago, I got a text from my nephew asking what the best way to play Total War: Warhammer 3. When I messaged back a couple of hours later (look, I'm not a responsive uncle) to tell him it's currently £50 on Steam, but it's worth waiting because according to SteamDB's price history it's come down to £7.50 in the past, I was too late. He'd got itchy feet and bought it at full whack on Steam, using up all his birthday money.

That's when I went looking and found Is There Any Deal for the first time. (A lot of you in the comments may be throwing your hands up in despair to hear this oversight) If you've not come across it before, it's a site that tracks game sales across loads of shops, including Steam, EA Store, Epic Games Store, GamersGate, GOG. GreenManGaming, Humble. This means while a game may not be on sale on Steam you can see if it's on sale anywhere else.

In the case of Total War: Warhammer 3, while it was full price on Steam, over on the Humble Store it was discounted to £7.49. I sent a link to my nephew and then told him, using the authority only an uncle has, that it's okay to refund the game through Steam and buy the cheaper version. It's not something I've ever done myself, but he's 17 and that is a lot of money to save.

Anyway, that's recommendation the first. It was only when I was looking for a way to export my Steam Wishlist to ask RPS supporters what I should cull that I realised Is There Any Deal has another feature: you can import every game on your Wishlist to get deal notifications. (This may get a second groan of despair in the comment section.) Once linked up, the site will ping you a notification whenever games you're waiting for pop up in a deal.

Just looking at my current list, I can get Genesis Noir, Ancient Enemy, and Norco for £10 total, all of which with more than 70% discounts through stores other than Steam. So, as you can see, this could be both a saving technically and lead me to spending a lot more money than I mean to…

You may already have heard of these tools, but as I hadn't I thought it best to give them a shout out.

Now considering I've revealed myself to be a rube, what other third party tools should I be installing to weaponise my Steam Library?
