omg, you guys, i just found out about this crazy story about a steam game called crashphalt. it's a free multiplayer game where you basically just ground-pound each other to try and knock the other players off the screen. sounds kinda silly, but it's actually gotten a ton of positive reviews on steam. but here's the thing - most of those reviews are from people who are just using the game to play undertale online with their friends.



apparently, there's this mod called undertale together that lets you play undertale with a friend, but it doesn't support online play on its own. so, players figured out that if you use crashphalt, you can kinda hack it to work. it's all pretty weird, and the creator of crashphalt, retrospecter, is just like "yeah, i dunno why they chose my game, but sure, go for it." i think it's pretty cool, though - it's like crashphalt has found this new life as a way for undertale fans to play together.



i checked out crashphalt, and it's actually pretty fun. the shockwave mechanic is super satisfying, and it's easy to see why people would want to play it. but at the same time, it's clear that most people are just using it for the undertale mod. i mean, some of the steam reviews are pretty brutal - people are just leaving reviews saying "10/10 for undertale, never playing this again." it's kinda harsh, but i guess it's also just a sign of how much people love undertale.
