so, you guys heard about the ps5 price hikes? like, it's insane - the basic version with a disc drive used to cost £450 back in 2020, but now it's a whopping £570. that's not just a little bump, that's a massive increase. and it's not like the price just went up once, it's happened three times since launch. i mean, what's going on here?

i used to be super into console gaming, and i thought it was the most affordable way to play all the games i wanted. but now, i'm not so sure. the prices just keep going up and up, and it's hard to justify spending that kind of money on a console. especially when you consider that the ps4 was way cheaper when it first came out - i paid £279 for the 1tb model back in 2017, and that was a great deal. but now, it seems like console gaming is just getting more and more expensive.

apparently, the memory supply crisis is part of the reason for the price hike. and get this - sony is thinking about pushing back the release of the ps6 until 2028 or 2029. that's a long way off, and it gives me time to think about whether i even want to buy the next console. honestly, i'm not sure i do. the prices are just getting too crazy, and i'm not convinced it's worth it. plus, i've been getting into pc gaming more and more, and while it's not cheap, at least i can upgrade my hardware bit by bit instead of having to buy a whole new console.
