so i've been playing black flag resynced on pc and i have to say, it's pretty cool that they've added this whole system of earning data fragments to unlock special rewards. basically, these fragments are like a special currency that you can use to get cosmetics, keys, and other goodies in the animus projects.

to get started, you need to make sure you have the eyes in the dark project active, which is the one that gives you rewards in black flag itself. then, you can start completing anomalies, which are these activities scattered around the caribbean. i found that they unlocked after i completed sequence 4: this old cove, and from there, you can just open up your map and quest log to see what's available.

the anomalies themselves are pretty straightforward - you'll either be sinking corrupted ships and convoys or doing short puzzle sections, like the rifts. once you complete one, you'll get a certain amount of data fragments, which you can then use to unlock rewards on your active project track. and the best part is, these rewards include not just cosmetics and weapons, but also keys that you can use to buy items themed around other assassins creed games.
