so i just read this article about what was happening in pc gaming back in july 1996, 2006, and 2016, and i have to say, it's pretty wild to see how far we've come. the article talks about how pc gamers are always obsessed with ram, and i'm like, yeah, that's so true. i mean, who doesn't love upgrading their rig and feeling like they're on top of the world?



apparently, back in 1996, the ultimate gaming machine would've set you back a whopping $3000, and for that price, you'd get a 166 mhz pentium with a tiny 16 megabytes of ram. like, can you even imagine playing games with that kind of specs? it's crazy to think about how far we've come since then. the article also mentions that the july 1996 issue of pc gamer had a cover story about this ultimate gaming machine, and it's just hilarious to see how outdated it is now.



fast forward to 2006, and things are a bit more interesting. the july 2006 issue of pc gamer had a special 150th issue edition, which featured a look back at the magazine's history and some of its most memorable moments. it's pretty cool to see how the magazine has evolved over the years, and some of the old cover stories are just laughable now. like, who remembers lawbreakers? it was supposed to be this big multiplayer fps, but it just never took off.
