so i just heard about this game above the snow and i'm lowkey obsessed already - it's like a tycoon management game where you build and run your own alpine resort, complete with hikes, hot cocoa, and a dog named brutus (who i'm already a little suspicious of). the devs are calling it a "cosy" game, but i think that's just code for "you get to be a little cruel to your guests".

i mean, think about it - you get to design your own hiking trails, complete with difficult stretches and hazards, and then you can watch as your guests try to navigate them. it's like a little simulation of chaos, and i am here for it. you can also manage a team of eccentric staff and decorate your lodge with all sorts of cute furnishings, from snooker tables to stuffed animal heads. it's like the perfect mix of cute and cruel.

but what really caught my attention was the mention of some bigger, darker events going on in the background. apparently it's the harshest winter of the 1960s, and there's even a "great avalanche" incoming. and then there's this mysterious thing called the astral door - i have no idea what it is, but it sounds super intriguing. i'm getting a little bit of a lovecraftian vibe from it all, and i am so down for that.

above the snow is out tomorrow, april 23rd, on pc, and i'm definitely going to be checking it out. the devs, above the desk, seem like they're onto something special, and i love that they've partnered with a real-life explorer to promote the game. preorders are available at major retailers, so if you're as curious as i am, youRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
