omg, you guys, i just heard that eric barone, the genius behind stardew valley, is working on a new game called haunted chocolatier. it's supposed to be this super cute and spooky game that i am totally here for. the only downside is that we won't be getting any new screenshots or updates on the game's systems until it's actually finished.

i can kinda understand why he's doing this, though. barone said that sharing too much info during development feels like serving "half-baked bread" - and who wants that? it's better to wait until the game is fully baked (lol, get it?) and ready to go. plus, if he shares too much too soon, people might get excited about features that end up getting cut or changed, and that would be super disappointing.

it's interesting that barone is taking this approach, especially since it seems like every other game is doing the opposite - drip-feeding us with demos and blog posts and all that jazz. but i guess when you've got a track record like stardew valley, you can kind of do your own thing. i mean, let's be real, haunted chocolatier is already going to have a huge following just because of barone's previous work.

i'm actually kinda relieved that we won't be getting a bunch of premature updates and screenshots. it's nice to just be able to look forward to a game without being bombarded with info all the time. and who knows, maybe the wait will make it all the more sweet (heh, chocolate puns) when the game finally drops. preorders are available at major retailers, btw, so you can already get ready to grab your copy when it comes out.
