omg, you guys, i just heard the worst news - halo studios, the team behind the amazing halo series, just got hit with a bunch of layoffs. this is literally just a week after they dropped halo: campaign evolved, which i've been playing nonstop on my pc. i mean, i know the game industry can be super tough, but it's still crazy to see this happen, especially to such a talented team.

so, apparently a bunch of devs have been posting on social media about how they're leaving the studio, and it's just so sad. one of the producers, nick treitman, said he's been working on halo for like 6.5 years and has been dodging layoffs the whole time, but finally got caught up in this one. he seems really gracious about it, though, and just wishes the best for the studio and his former colleagues. same with paul morris, who was a scrum master or something - he's just being super positive and hoping for the best.

i guess the full extent of the layoffs is still unclear, but it's not looking great. xbox hasn't commented on it yet, which is kinda weird. and to make matters worse, this is just the latest in a wave of layoffs that have been hitting microsoft-owned companies. like, last month, xbox announced they were cutting 3,200 jobs, which is just insane. so, even though halo: campaign evolved seems to be doing pretty well - i mean, it's gotten great reviews and has sold a decent amount of copies on steam and xbox - it's not enough to save the studio from these cuts.

i'm just really hoping that all the devs who got laid off will find new jobs soon. the game industry can be super brutal,Read more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
