omg, have you guys heard about sony's latest announcement? they're basically ditching physical playstation discs and going all digital by january 2028. i know some people are all about that digital life, but for me, there's just something about holding a game in my hands and being able to lend it to friends or sell it when i'm done. and let's be real, this change is going to affect more than just our gaming habits - it's going to hit our wallets too.

apparently, a recent report from a dutch website found that games are usually way cheaper in stores than on the playstation store. like, who knew? they tracked prices for 16 ps5 games over the past four years and discovered that retail prices tend to drop over time, while ps store prices stay pretty much the same unless there's a sale on. and even then, the prices just go back up afterwards. it's pretty sketchy if you ask me.

the report also found that first-party playstation games are basically never cheaper than their physical counterparts. and i mean, never - they just stay at that full launch price forever unless there's a sale. it's only happened once, with horizon forbidden west, and that was a rare exception. so yeah, if you're looking to save some cash, it's probably better to buy physical copies of games for now. preorders are available at major retailers, so you can still get your hands on the games you want, but it's just not the same as having that disc.
