so, it looks like steam might be getting a pretty cool new feature that'll help us figure out how well games will run on our pcs. basically, someone dug up some hidden text in the latest steam update that mentions a "framerate estimator" tool. i'm kinda stoked about this, because who doesn't want to know if their pc can handle the latest games without having to actually download and play them?

i think this tool could be super useful, especially for people who are always wondering if their hardware is up to par. from what i've gathered, it seems like the framerate estimator will give you an estimate of how many frames per second you can expect from a particular game, based on your cpu, graphics card, and ram. and the best part is, you won't have to download any extra software or run some separate executable - you'll be able to do it all from within the steam client itself.

i've seen some other tools and features that kinda do similar things, like the xbox app's "should perform great on your device" thing, or websites like can you run it. but this steam tool seems like it'll be way more detailed and accurate. and, you know, it's always better to have this kind of info right in the steam client, rather than having to go searching for it elsewhere. plus, it seems like valve is really trying to make this thing easy to use and private, which is awesome.

so, when can we expect this fancy new feature to drop? honestly, i have no idea - it's all just speculation at this point. but even if it takes a while, i think it'll be worth the wait. i mean, can you imagine being able to browse through steam and see exactly how well each game will run onRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
