Forza Horizon 6 developer Playground Games has shot down rumours the game's anticipated PlayStation 5 version had been delayed. The confirmation, slim as it is, comes a little over one week after reports about a quiet delay for Horizon 6 started surfacing.
In a blog post covering Forza Horizon 6's latest major update, Playground reaffirmed the open-world driving game is coming to PS5 this year, though without announcing a solid release date or suggesting a release window.
"If you're planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability," reads a paragraph tucked away near the end of the post.
This was certainly surprising to see, as even before last week's reports, players just assumed the game had quietly slipped out of 2026 simply because the developer stopped talking about it. Horizon 6 was revealed during 2025's Tokyo Game Show, almost exactly one year ago. It made sense, given the game's Japan setting, so it would likewise make sense for Xbox to return to the TGS stage to announce a PS5 release date. TGS 2026 takes place 17th-21st September, so we won't have to wait too long to get our answer.
Forza Horizon 6 has been a massive hit since its release in May. It sold millions at launch, and continues to be among the most-played games on PC and Xbox. Horizon 6 was recently estimated to be Steam's highest-grossing new release so far in 2026, earning Valve an estimated $210.5m (~£155.74m) cut. Indeed, given the big success of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5, there's every reason to believe Horizon 6 will do just as well on Sony's platform.
In the Eurogamer Forza Horizon 6 review, Dom Peppiatt said the game builds on 14 years of history to deliver the best Horizon yet, making good on the series' original promise.
