so, you guys know i'm a total fan of magic: the gathering, and their latest sets have been absolutely on point. they just announced a new hobbit set, which is pretty exciting, but also a bit...underwhelming? i mean, we just got an amazing lord of the rings set, and now we're getting another one that's kinda similar. don't get me wrong, i love the hobbit, but it feels like they're trying to milk the tolkien franchise a bit too hard.

one thing that's cool about this new set is the new mechanics they're introducing. there's this thing called "hone" that lets you boost your creatures with equipment, which is mostly used by dwarves. and speaking of dwarves, they're also getting a new condition called "storied" that does different things depending on the dwarf. it's pretty neat, but it's also a bit confusing - like, how is this different from the stuff we already have? and don't even get me started on the fact that we now have three different cards for sting, bilbo's sword. i mean, i love sting, but come on.
the set also has some other new mechanics, like "recruit" which lets humans draw cards and get little soldier tokens. and they're bringing back some old favorites, like saga cards and adventure cards. which, yay, i love those. but it's all just feeling a bit...samey. i mean, we just had a huge lord of the rings set, and now we're getting a smaller hobbit set that's just...more of the same. i'm not sure if i'm just being cynical, but it feels like they're trying to cash in on the tolkien hype rather than actuallyRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
