so i just stumbled upon this game called flask and i'm kinda intrigued by it. it's like a dark comedy deckbuilding autobattler with this really unique hand-drawn art style that's all scratchy and twisted. the game is all about being an alchemist who's struggling financially, so you have to gather and upgrade a team of monsters to fight other fantasy creatures for their blood.

i know it sounds kinda weird, but hear me out. you get to create a team of homunculi and give them these flasks that have different effects when they drink from them. you can sequence the flasks in certain ways to get elemental bonuses, which is actually pretty cool. the game also has this roguelike structure, where you have to navigate through these blood hunts and come up with the best strategies to win.

one thing that caught my attention is the multiplayer aspect of the game. it's all asynchronous, so you can have your homunculi team fight against other players' teams without them even knowing. it's like, you can be a boss in someone else's game and they can be a boss in yours, which is a really interesting concept. and the goal is to climb this leaderboard by earning the most blood, which is just a really dark and funny way to approach multiplayer.
the art style in flask is definitely one of its standout features. it's all papercraft-like, with these stiff animations that add to the whole twisted vibe. i've seen some of the artwork and it's just so gross and amazing at the same time. the developers, chop chop games, are really going for this unique look and feel, and i think it's definitely going to appeal to some people.
