omg, you guys, if you've been playing mecha chameleon lately, you need to check your computer for malware ASAP. apparently, some custom maps on the steam workshop were infected and could've downloaded malware to your pc. i know, i know, it sounds super scary.



so, basically, there was a vulnerability in the game that allowed these infected maps to sneak past the workshop review process. one of the maps, called laser tag neon, was found to have malware hidden inside it. the devs have since patched the issue, but it's still pretty worrisome. i mean, who expects to get malware from a steam workshop map, right?



the mecha chameleon devs, haganeiro, confirmed that the vulnerability has been fixed and the malware has been disabled for the affected maps. they also updated the game to version 3.1.0, which should prevent anything like this from happening again in the future. but, unfortunately, that's not the only issue the game has been facing lately.

apparently, the game's official discord server was also hacked, which is just crazy. the server has almost 100,000 users, so it's a pretty big deal. the devs said that the hack happened because one of their system engineers' pcs was infected with malware, which allowed the hacker to bypass two-factor authentication and take control of the server. the devs are currently working with discord support to try and recover the server, but if that doesn't work, they'll just set up a new one.
