so i just heard that final fantasy 7 ever crisis is shutting down, and honestly, it's kinda sad. i mean, it was one of the more faithful remakes of the original game, even if it did have some gacha rolls thrown in. but what really gets me is that it had a bunch of extra content, including a remake of before crisis, which is a prequel game that was only released in japan.

i'd never even heard of before crisis before, but apparently it was part of the compilation of final fantasy 7 project, which was all about expanding the world of the original game. it was directed by some big names, like hajime tabata, who also worked on final fantasy 15. and the worst part is, before crisis was never officially released outside of japan, and it's basically impossible to play it nowadays, even if you're into emulation.

the thing that's really frustrating is that ever crisis was supposed to include a remake of before crisis, which would've been its first english release. and we finally got the first chapter, but now the game is shutting down, so we won't get to see the whole thing. i mean, we'll get a couple more chapters in august and september, but it's not the same as being able to play the whole game. and with the service ending on october 6th, there's not much time left to play it.
