omg, you guys, final fantasy 14 is getting a new expansion and i am totally hyped. it's called evercold and from what i can gather, it's all about an ice age hitting the world of eorzea. the teaser trailer is pretty lengthy, but it gives us a glimpse into what's coming next.



i'm also loving that the new overarching storyline, which started with the previous expansion dawntrail, has a name now - the godless realms saga. it sounds super cool and i'm excited to dive in and see where it takes us. plus, with the new expansion comes a bunch of other changes and additions, like a new alliance raid that's a collaboration with neon genesis evangelion. yes, you read that right - evangelion is coming to final fantasy 14.



the alliance raid is called ghosts of desire and i'm guessing it'll feature some iconic eva units and music from the series. i'm also putting my money on there being some rei and asuka themed outfits, because why not. it's not all about the new expansion though, the free trial is also getting an update, allowing players to experience a huge chunk of the story for free, all the way up to shadowbringers.

combat is also getting a bit of a rework, with two new modes to choose from - reborn mode and evolved mode. reborn mode is basically the same combat we're used to, while evolved mode is supposed to put more emphasis on job identity, whatever that means. we'll also be getting two new jobs, one tank and one physical ranged dps, but details are pretty scarce on those for now.
