so i just heard that final fantasy 14 is getting some major updates to its housing system, and i am totally stoked. apparently, the director and producer naoki yoshida is a big fan of world of warcraft's new housing system, and he's not afraid to admit it. in fact, he's using it as inspiration to make some big changes to ff14's own housing system.

i've been playing ff14 for a while now, and i have to say, the housing system can be a bit of a pain. it's hard to find a plot, and the ui is kinda clunky. but it sounds like the team is working on two big overhauls to fix all that. the first one is going to make the housing ui way more user-friendly, so casual players can easily create their own elaborate houses without getting frustrated. i'm really hoping this means we'll have more freedom to place items and decorate our homes without using glitches or third-party plugins.

the second overhaul is still a bit of a mystery, but yoshida says it's going to be even better than the ui update. he's being pretty tight-lipped about it, but he says it's something that players have been requesting for a long time. i'm guessing it might have something to do with making it easier to get housing plots, or maybe even adding new features like neighborhood creation. whatever it is, i'm excited to hear more about it. preorders for the upcoming expansion evercold are available at major retailers, and i'm planning to get in on it as soon as possible.
