ok, so you know how sometimes you're just trying to chill and play some games, and then suddenly your console is like "nope, you need to go online"? yeah, that's what's been happening to some playstation users lately. apparently, there's this thing called a 30-day drm check that's been showing up on some digital games, and if you don't connect to the internet within that time frame, you won't be able to play them. which, honestly, is kind of a bummer.

i mean, i get that sony is trying to protect their games and all, but this just seems like a really annoying way to do it. especially since it doesn't even affect physical games or games that you've already bought in the past. it's just these new digital games that are getting hit with this 30-day timer. and if your console's internal clock battery dies, you're basically out of luck - your games will be unplayable. which, funnily enough, is kind of reminiscent of that old "cbomb" issue that playstation users were worried about a few years ago.

so, allegedly, this whole thing might have been an accident on sony's part. some people are saying that they were trying to fix an exploit, but ended up breaking something else instead. which, okay, mistakes happen, i guess. but it's still pretty weird that they wouldn't just, like, own up to it and fix it already. instead, we've got people digging around and trying to figure out what's going on, and it's all just a bit of a mess.

apparently, if you connect to the internet within 15 days of buying a game, you'll get an "infinite offline license"Read more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
