so, if you're a steam user in europe who's bought hardware recently, you might want to keep an eye out for some shady messages. apparently, there was a cyberattack on one of valve's shipping partners, ceva logistics, and it's possible that some of your personal info was stolen.



from what i've gathered, the attack happened between july 29 and august 1, and it looks like ceva is still trying to figure out what happened. valve sent out an email to affected users, saying that ceva had access to their name, phone number, email, and postal address for up to 90 days after an order. which, yeah, is pretty concerning. but at least it seems like credit card info and steam logins are safe, since ceva didn't have access to that stuff.



if you did get an email from valve about this, it doesn't necessarily mean your data was stolen - they're just covering their bases and warning people who might be affected. and, honestly, it's nice to see them being proactive about it. they're also warning users to expect fake messages that might try to trick them into giving out more info or paying some kind of fee. like, seriously, don't fall for that - steam support never handles issues over email or chat, so if someone's trying to contact you that way, it's probably a scam.
