omg, you guys, i've been playing forza horizon 6 on pc and i have to say, the ray tracing option is kinda... meh. i know, i know, it's supposed to be this amazing feature that makes the game look even more stunning, but honestly, i don't think it's worth it. even with a powerful gpu like the rtx 5090, the performance hit just isn't worth the slight visual upgrade.

i've been testing the game on different pc setups and settings, and overall, it runs really smoothly, even on older hardware. but when i turned on ray tracing, i was expecting to be blown away by the graphics, and it just didn't happen. there are two ray tracing options - one for reflections and one for global illumination - and while they do make a difference, it's just not enough to justify the frame rate loss.

for example, the ray-traced reflections are definitely better than the screen-space ones, which can look a bit weird and pop in sometimes. but the thing is, you're usually driving so fast that you don't even have time to notice the difference. and as for the global illumination, it just feels like it's not doing much to enhance the game's visuals. maybe it's because the game world is so open and you can't really get up close to objects and buildings, but it just doesn't seem to make a big impact.

what's even weirder is that the ray tracing option can actually scrub out details on surfaces in some cases, which is just plain weird. i've noticed it in certain areas, like doorways, where the textures and details just seem to disappear. it's not a huge deal, but it's just another reason why i don't think ray tracingRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
