so i just heard the most interesting thing about the dragon age series - apparently, the former lead writer, david gaider, thinks it's probably dead in the water as far as ea is concerned. which is pretty sad, because i've always loved the depth and complexity of the games. gaider seems to think that ea just never really understood what made dragon age tick, and that's why they kept trying to shoehorn it into this weird, edgy mold that just didn't fit.

i mean, think about it - the origins trailer was basically just a bunch of dark, gritty nonsense set to a marilyn manson track, which is so not what the series is about. and even now, ea's ceo is blaming the lack of live service features for the series' struggles, which just shows how out of touch they are. it's like, hello, people love dragon age for its storytelling and characters, not for some shallow multiplayer experience.

it's pretty clear that gaider has some mixed feelings about his time working on the series, and about how ea treated it. he says that mass effect was always the favorite child, and that dragon age was just kind of...there. which is weird, because dragon age: inquisition actually did really well, despite ea's low expectations. but i guess that just didn't fit with their narrative, so they just kind of...ignored it.

despite all the drama, gaider says he'd actually be interested in working on dragon age again - but only if he could do it without ea's interference. which, honestly, sounds like a dream come true. i mean, can you imagine a dragon age game that's just completely unapologetic and dark and crazy? that sounds amazing. gaider says he'dRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
