so i just heard about the whole id software situation and i'm not entirely sure what to think. apparently there were some pretty deep cuts during the xbox layoffs and people are wondering if the studio is still going to be able to make new games and support its idtech engine. i mean, i love doom and quake, so the thought of id software not being able to do its thing is kind of scary.

id software's studio director, hugo martin, recently spoke out about the situation, saying that everything is fine and they're still working on new projects. he even mentioned that they're the same size as they were when they made the 2016 doom reboot, which is pretty cool. he also reassured fans that the idtech engine is still alive and well, with engineers working on it at both the frankfurt and machinegames locations. i guess that's good to hear, but i'm still a bit skeptical.

one thing that caught my attention was martin's comment that as long as the games are good, everything is okay. i don't know if i totally agree with that. i mean, don't get me wrong, i love playing great games, but isn't it also important to think about the people who make them and the state of the industry as a whole? it seems kind of tone deaf to just focus on the games and not consider the bigger picture. i'm not sure what the future holds for id software, but i hope they're able to keep making awesome games without sacrificing too much.

on a related note, bethesda just dropped a ton of info about its upcoming projects, including a new fallout game from obsidian and remasters of fallout 3 and new vegas. that's all pretty exciting, and it's good to see that they're stillRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
