so, you know how ubisoft has been in the news lately? well, things just got even more intense - a bunch of devs at one of their studios are on strike, and it's all because of the huge layoffs that just happened. apparently, ubisoft is closing down two studios and restructuring another, which means around 380 people are losing their jobs. that's just devastating.

i mean, i can understand why the devs are striking - who wouldn't be upset if their friends and colleagues were suddenly out of a job? it's not like ubisoft is some tiny indie studio that can't afford to keep people on, either. they're a huge company with a ton of popular games, from assassin's creed to rainbow six siege. you'd think they'd be able to take care of their employees, but i guess not.

speaking of rainbow six siege, it's been having a pretty rough time lately. not only did ubisoft have to shut it down temporarily because of a third-party hack, but it's also been underperforming since some people figured out a way to exploit the pricing. and to make matters worse, the devs just announced that the game is going free-to-play with the new x update. i'm not sure how i feel about that, to be honest - on the one hand, it's great that more people will be able to play, but on the other hand, i worry about what it means for the game's future.
