ok, so you guys might've heard that eidos montreal, the devs behind deus ex: mankind divided, just went through a pretty big round of layoffs. like, 124 staff members got let go, which is a pretty significant chunk of their team. and if that wasn't enough, they're also parting ways with their long-time studio head. it's pretty sad to see, especially since eidos montreal has been behind some really awesome games over the years.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around what this means for the future of deus ex, though. apparently, eidos montreal is now the owner of the deus ex and thief game series, which could be a good thing... or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. i mean, on the one hand, it's cool that they've got full control over these iconic franchises. but on the other hand, it's a bit worrying that they're going through so much upheaval right now. can they still deliver the same level of quality that we've come to expect from them?

one thing that's got me a bit excited, though, is that the lead writer from deus ex and guardian of the galaxy has joined bioware. i'm a huge fan of their work, and i think they could bring a really cool perspective to bioware's games. plus, there are rumors that embracer (the company that owns eidos montreal) is thinking about making more deus ex and tomb raider games, which would be amazing. i'd love to see some new sequels, remakes, or spinoffs in the works.

anyway, it's all a bit up in the air right now, but i'm keeping my fingers crossedRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
