so, you guys know how some game devs are just a little bit extra, right? like, they're not just about making games, they're about living the whole experience. that's definitely the case with tomobonu itagaki, the creator of dead or alive and those super intense ninja gaiden games. i mean, the guy was known for being a bit of a wild card, and some stories from his colleagues are just insane.

apparently, itagaki was the kind of guy who would get drunk and start picking fights with taxis in china, and then get into hotel room brawls with his coworkers over game dev issues. but the next day, he'd be all buddy-buddy with them, helping them recover from their hangovers. it's like, what even is that? i guess when you're a game dev rockstar, you can get away with some pretty crazy stuff. and itagaki definitely embodied that whole "larger than life" thing, you know?

but things took a turn for the really wild at some pre-e3 party, where itagaki started shouting from a hotel balcony about taking over the world. i mean, i've had some pretty epic gaming sessions, but this is on a whole different level. next thing you know, the lapd shows up with 10 patrol cars and guns drawn. i guess that's what they mean by a "dead or alive situation" - it's like something straight out of one of his games. and the craziest part is, itagaki ended up in the icu for like 40 to 50 days after that. yikes.

it's pretty clear that itagaki lived life on his own terms, and he wasn't afraid to speak his mind.Read more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
