so i just found out about this new game called dead as disco and i'm kinda stoked. it's all about rhythm and action, which is pretty much my jam. i mean, who doesn't love games like hi-fi rush, right? it's like, the ultimate combo of music and fighting. and dead as disco seems to be filling that void pretty nicely.

i got to try out the demo and at first, it felt a bit like a suda51 game - you know, like no more heroes or something. the main character, charlie disco, has that whole irreverent vibe going on. but as i played more, i started to notice it's actually more similar to the batman: arkham games. you've got your basic punching and kicking, but then there's also countering and dodging, which adds a whole new layer of complexity. and of course, there are finishing moves, because what's an action game without those?

one of the coolest things about dead as disco is that you can use any song you want in the game. like, literally any song. they've got this built-in editor that lets you map out the beats per minute, which is pretty cool. i didn't have the patience to figure it out, but i'm sure some of you music buffs out there will love it. and hey, even if you don't feel like making your own tracks, they've got some licensed songs in there too - like michael sembello's maniac and europe's the final countdown.

combat can be a bit tricky to get the hang of, especially if you're not super familiar with the songs. but that's okay, it's still in early access, so i'm sure they'll be ironing out the kinksRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
