ok, so there's this new boomer shooter called brine and it's literally about mutant fish people taking over cornwall - like, can you even imagine? it's this perfect blend of weird and awesome, and i am totally here for it. you play as a fisherman with a nailgun, which is just as cool as it sounds, and you have to fight off all these crustacean cultists and other sea creatures gone wrong.

i've been playing it for a bit, and i have to say, the gameplay is pretty straightforward - it's your standard point-and-shoot deal, with a bit of a twist in that your guns have two different modes depending on whether you left or right click. it's not super original, but honestly, it doesn't need to be. the shooting feels really tight and responsive, and the 2d/3d graphics combo creates this really fun spatial design that keeps you on your toes. plus, the underwater segments are so much fun - you can fly up from underneath the sea and catch your enemies off guard, which never gets old.

one of the things that really stands out about brine, though, is the vibe. it's just so... cornwall, you know? there are cornish pasties and scones and fish and chips everywhere, and they're all used as health packs, which is just the best. and the music - oh my gosh, the music is like this crazy catchy tune that just gets stuck in your head. it's not even that complex, but it's just so funky and fun, and it totally adds to the game's overall atmosphere.

if you're interested in checking out brine for yourself, you can currently find it on itch.io, and it's supposed toRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
