so, you know how sometimes you buy super pricey tech stuff and it's all good because it's got a warranty, right? well, that's not always the case, and louis rossman, a total tech whiz and consumer rights champion, is taking samsung to court over a failed 990 pro ssd that they're refusing to replace. this thing was originally $300, but now it costs a whopping $949, which is kinda suspicious, if you ask me.

anyway, rossman bought this 4tb samsung 990 pro ssd about a year ago, and it just stopped working one day. no big deal, he thought, it's still under warranty, so he contacted samsung to get it replaced. but, things got weird pretty fast. he accidentally contacted the canada b2b support desk instead of the usa one, and then they asked him for a photo of the ssd, which he couldn't provide right away because it was still in his computer at home.

so, samsung closed the support ticket because he didn't send the photo within 24 hours, which is pretty ridiculous, if you ask me. eventually, they did get the ticket sorted, and rossman sent the drive back to them, but then they told him that the drive was "verified as good", which is just not true. rossman showed in his video that the drive is actually really slow, with write speeds of 20 to 160 mb/s, which is super slow for a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.
