so, have you guys heard about compulsion games regaining independence from xbox? it's pretty cool, and it seems like they're already making moves as their own publisher. they're now listed as the publisher of their game south of midnight on steam, which is a big deal.

i was really excited to see this happen, because compulsion games has made some amazing titles in the past, like contrast and we happy few. and south of midnight, despite getting some mixed reviews, is still a really beautiful game with a unique soundtrack and animation style. the stop-motion style visuals are seriously stunning, and the way music is woven into the gameplay is pretty innovative.

but, it seems like their journey to independence wasn't the only big change happening at xbox. there have been some major restructuring efforts going on, with other studios like double fine, ninja theory, and undead labs also leaving the xbox division. and, from what i've heard, morale at xbox is pretty low right now, with a lot of people waiting to see if they'll be laid off. it's all pretty crazy, and i'm not sure what to make of it.
anyway, back to south of midnight. it's available on a bunch of platforms, including pc, ps5, xbox series x/s, and nintendo switch 2. and, as i mentioned earlier, compulsion games is now the publisher on steam, but it's still listed as being published by microsoft/xbox on other platforms. i'm not sure what's going on with that, but i'm hoping we'll get some more info soon. preorders are available at major retailers, if you're interested in checking it out.

i'm really curious to see what compulsion games does next, now that they're independent. theyRead more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
