omg, you guys, i just heard the most insane thing - coal in old school runescape has apparently outperformed ethereum this year. like, what even is that? i know some people are super into crypto and all, but it's just so wild to think that a virtual resource in a game could be doing better than a major cryptocurrency.

so apparently, if you had bought old school runescape bonds, converted them into in-game gold, and then sold that gold to other players for real cash, you would've made more money than if you had invested in ethereum. now, i'm not saying that's something you should do, because it's against the game's terms of service and all that. but still, it's a pretty crazy statistic. according to some graphs i saw, coal in old school runescape has grown by around 40 percent, while ethereum has only grown by around 30 percent.

i think what's really interesting about this is that coal in old school runescape has a actual use in the game - you can use it to smelt bars and all that. it's not just some speculative resource that people are buying and selling in the hopes of making a profit. it's a real part of the game's economy, and that's what makes it so stable. i mean, who needs crypto when you can just buy virtual coal, right?
it's also pretty funny to see some of the reactions from crypto investors who don't play games. they seem to think that old school runescape is just some primitive economy where people are farming resources all day or something. but that's not how it works at all - players are actually able to carve out their own niches and make their own opportunities, just like in the real world.
