omg, you guys - windrose is finally out in early access and i am so stoked. it's like, the ultimate co-op pirate survival game with base-building, ship-to-ship combat, and open world exploration. i mean, what's not to love? i've been playing it for a bit now, and i've got to say, it's pretty addictive.

so, the game starts with you getting shipwrecked on a tiny island after a run-in with blackbeard (um, ouch). from there, you've got to gather resources, craft a base, repair your ship, rescue your crew, and start building a pirate empire. it's a lot to take in, but the game does a great job of easing you in. plus, the world is huge and gorgeous, and i love exploring all the different islands and biomes.

one thing i was a bit worried about was the survival mechanics - i'm not usually a fan of games that are too punishing. but windrose seems to have struck a good balance. you don't have to worry about starving to death or anything, but eating food does give you buffs and stuff. and, you know, it's always nice to have a good excuse to go fishing or farming. speaking of which, fishing is a bit of a weird one - it's not totally implemented yet, but i'm hoping it'll get more fleshed out as the game develops.

i've also been loving the co-op aspect of the game - it's so much fun playing with friends and working together to take down enemy ships. and, hey, the sea shanties are a nice touch - my crew loves singing along as we sail the high seas. preorders are available at major retailers, and itRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
