omg, you guys, have you heard about clair obscur: expedition 33? it's this gorgeous game that's all about embracing its flaws and imperfections, and i am so here for it. the creative director, guillaume broche, recently did an interview where he talked about how he was inspired by games that are a little rough around the edges, and how that's actually what makes them charming.

i totally get what he's saying - i mean, think about it, when was the last time you played a game that was absolutely perfect, and you still had fun? for me, it's the games that have a bit of character, a bit of personality, that really stand out. and clair obscur is definitely one of those games. it's got this amazing blend of action and turn-based gameplay, and it's just so... quirky. the minigames, for example, are intentionally obnoxious, and it's hilarious.

broche has this theory that people who try to be perfect are boring, and i kind of agree. i mean, who wants to play a game that's just going to hold your hand the whole time and never challenge you? not me, that's for sure. and clair obscur is definitely a game that will challenge you - it's got some tough design decisions, but that's all part of the fun. the fact that it mixes action and turn-based gameplay, for example, is something that a lot of people thought would never work, but it totally does.

one of the things that i love about clair obscur is that it's just so unapologetically itself. it's not trying to be some big, perfect game that's going to appeal to everyone - it's just this weirdRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
