so i just heard about the latest balance patch for marathon and i'm pretty stoked about the changes they're making. basically, they're ditching this super overpowered movement trick that was letting players zip around like crazy and get a huge advantage over others. it was called the thief's grappling hook movement technique and it was getting pretty ridiculous.

i mean, don't get me wrong, it was fun to watch clips of people pulling off insane moves with it, but it was also kinda unfair for everyone else. so, bungie's decided to put a stop to it and make sure that players have to work a bit harder to get around. they're all about making sure that movement has a cost, whether that's an ability charge or just more risk, and i think that's a great approach. it'll make the game feel more balanced and challenging, which is what we all want, right?

one of the other big changes is the re-opening of a shortcut in the outpost map. this was a bit of a controversial move, since it was originally closed off because it was too easy to sneak in and get a bunch of loot without doing the actual challenges. but now, bungie's reworked the puzzle to get in, so it's a bit more involved and you have to actually think about what you're doing. and the payoff is worth it, since the loot quality has been improved and there are more challenges to overcome.

i'm also loving the fact that they've fixed a bunch of bugs, including this super annoying one on the dire marsh map where the event pin would show up even if the anomaly event wasn't active. it was so frustrating, but now it's all sorted out and we can get on with playing the game without those pesky glitches.Read more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
