From the creator of the Act Two Expansion mod which came out in September

The opening act of a Baldur's Gate 3 custom campaign mod which injects an adventure set in the World of Warcraft universe into Larian's RPG has been released. The mod, Forsaken, is another ambitious bit of work from a modder who recently expanded the second act of BG3's main story with a new region to explore before you head into the final chapter. This time, they've abandoned the D&Dverse for a tale of undead slaves rising up after being freed from serving a Lich King.

"You play as one of the Forsaken; an Undead who has recently awakened to find they are no longer slaves to the Lich King," modder SquallyDaBeanz wrote of Forsaken, their latest creation to release via Nexus Mods. "Now you must find your place in this new world alongside other freed Undead as you fight to reclaim the kingdom of Lordaeron. Hunt fierce beasts, explore forgotten ruins, end dark rituals, slay zealots, discover magical items, and more in this Custom Campaign for levels 1-5."

This campaign's setting is based on the Tirisfal Glades region seen in both World of Warcraft's classic and vanilla versions, with the mod being deliberately disconnected from the world of Baldur's Gate and SquallyDaBeanz even having aimed to emulate WOW's design philosophy. The initial release only features Forsaken's first act, but there's still plenty to do within that.

More than 20 quests await across a map that the modder said is designed to feel as expansive as World of Warcraft usually does, while offering a good deal of things to discover despite it not being as tightly packed with locations and secrets as vanilla BG3's professionally crafted locales. There are some towns, settlements, and dungeons to run across as you adventure with a party of up to three specially-built companions. The trio - a fighter named Darnell, a mage called Isabella and a cleric named Duesten - can be found in a charming-sounding place dubbed Deathknell Chapel. "The current implementation is temporary and exists purely to have a full party for combat encounters," SquallyDaBeanz noted of these companions. "A complete overhaul is in the works but I chose to put it off for a future update."

While there are NPCs and traders to chat with, the current version of the mod's quite heavily focused on combat and is fairly linear compared to vanilla BG3. Though, that has seemed to be the case with a lot of BG3 custom campaign mods I've covered thus far, especially those that are still works-in-progress like Forsaken.

Going forwards, SquallyDaBeanz hasn't provided an estimate as to when the mod'll be getting a second act, but has laid out some features they plan to add to the opening act in future. More quests, class dialogue, skill checks, items, and lore books are all on the to-do list, as well as adding idle animations and cutscenes for some NPCs.

If you fancy giving Forsaken a go, you'll need to nab its main file and install it with help from the instructions in the mod's description. Then, once you've enabled Forsaken via BG3's in-game mod manager found in the main menu, you'll need to start a new game to be whisked off to WOWville.
