so i just heard about this crazy thing happening in final fantasy 14 - some players woke up to find this adorable otter backpack in their inventories and nobody knew where it came from. i mean, who wouldn't want a cute otter pack, right? but it's not even like it was announced in the patch notes or anything.



apparently, the backpack just started showing up for some players after patch 7.5 dropped, and it was super confusing because nobody knew what was triggering it. some people thought maybe it was a secret reward or something, but it turns out it was just a mistake. according to square enix, the internal id for the otter pack got mixed up with the id for the black embroidered parasol, so if you had the parasol, you got the backpack too.



i have to admit, i'm a little sad that it's not a real thing... yet. square enix says the otter pack is actually supposed to be a future reward, but they're not saying what it's for. maybe it's for an event or something. i'm guessing it might be for the make it rain event, but who knows. anyway, if you're one of the lucky ones who got the backpack, enjoy it while it lasts, because square enix is planning to fix the issue with a hotfix soon.
