so i just found out about this crazy game that never made it to the light of day - aionguard. it's like, this fantasy open world game where you play as a sorcerer-knight, trying to take back the land from evil forces. the thing that's really interesting about it is that the people who made it, avalanche, say it would have been basically the same as crimson desert, which is a game that's actually out now.

i'm kinda sad that we never got to see aionguard in action, because the ideas behind it sound really cool. you would have had to conquer different regions by taking down enemy strongholds, and you could do that by cutting off their supply lines or recruiting local tribes to help you out. and the best part is, your character would have had some insane abilities, like riding dragons and turning into a giant golem. it's like, who wouldn't want to play a game like that?

apparently, avalanche worked on aionguard for at least two years, and they even had a big publisher on board. but then the publisher just changed their mind and decided to focus on their existing ips instead of taking a risk on something new. and the worst part is, they told avalanche they were cancelling the game over a text message. like, can you even believe that? it's just so rude and unprofessional.

i guess we'll never know for sure what happened behind the scenes, but it sounds like the publisher was just looking for an excuse to get out of the deal. and it's not like this is the first time something like this has happened - we've all heard stories about games getting cancelled at the last minute, and it's just really frustrating for everyone involved. anyway, it's cool to see avalancheRead more: Full article on www.pcgamer.com
