so i just heard that assassin's creed black flag resynced just dropped and it's already doing ridiculously well - like, 2 million sales on launch day, which is pretty insane. i'm not super surprised though, since the original black flag was such a huge hit back in the day. i mean, who doesn't love running around in the caribbean, plundering ships and taking down templars?

anyway, i've been digging into the game and it seems like they've kept a lot of the same core gameplay that made the original so much fun. you can still explore the high seas, hunt for treasure, and upgrade your ship to be the most feared pirate on the ocean. and of course, there are all the usual assassination and stealth missions to complete. but what's really got people talking is the addition of single-player microtransactions, which is kinda...not great, in my opinion.

i've been reading through some reviews and it seems like a lot of people are pretty upset about the microtransactions. like, i get that they're trying to make money and all, but it feels kinda greedy to be charging people extra for stuff in a single-player game. and it's not like the game is cheap or anything - it's a full-priced title, so you'd think they'd include all the content without trying to nickel and dime you. still, i guess it's not all bad - the game itself seems pretty solid, and if you're a fan of the series or just looking for a fun pirate game, you might still want to check it out.
