i'm super stoked that assassin's creed black flag is getting a remake, dubbed black flag resynced, and it's coming out on july 9th. i mean, who doesn't love a good pirate game, right? but what's really caught my attention is what's not included in the remake - specifically, the freedom cry dlc.

i was a bit bummed to hear that the freedom cry dlc won't be part of black flag resynced. for those who don't know, freedom cry is an amazing dlc that follows adéwalé, a former slave who becomes the lead character, as he sails around the west indies freeing slaves. it's such a powerful and memorable story, and i think it's a shame that it's not included in the remake. according to the creative director, they made a "clear choice" to focus on edward's adventure, and that's why they left out the dlc and multiplayer.

i get that the developers want to focus on edward's story, but it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity to leave out the freedom cry dlc. i mean, it's not like it's some obscure piece of content - it's a really important part of the game's story and themes. and it's not like they're getting rid of the original black flag or anything, so you can still play freedom cry if you have the original game. preorders are available at major retailers, so if you're interested in checking out black flag resynced, you can grab it there.

one thing that's kind of interesting is that the developers have added some new characters and quests to the game. there are three new crew officers, for example, each with their own unique abilities and backstoriesRead more: Full article on www.rockpapershotgun.com
