i think it's really cool that you don't need to be a member of the union to apply for help - they're just trying to support anyone in the industry who's struggling right now. and it's not just limited to people who were directly laid off, either - if you've experienced any kind of layoff-related hardship, you can apply for assistance. they're asking people to provide a basic budget breakdown of their expenses, and then they'll consider your application.



there are two different tiers of funding available, which is pretty great. the small fund tier can provide up to $1,000, and the major expenses tier can go all the way up to $5,000. i know it's not a ton of money, but it could really make a difference for someone who's struggling to pay their bills after a layoff. the union is using their membership fees to fund this whole thing, which is really awesome - they're basically putting their money where their mouth is.
