so i just heard that take-two, the publisher behind grand theft auto, just dropped their latest financial report and it's got some pretty interesting stuff in it. apparently, their sales are like, almost entirely digital - we're talking over 90% here. this doesn't really surprise me, i mean, who buys physical games anymore? but it's still cool to see the numbers backing it up.

what's even more interesting is that this lines up with what other game devs have been saying lately. capcom and sega have both come out and said that digital sales are where it's at, and that playstation's move to stop making physical games won't really affect them. it's like, the whole industry is shifting towards digital and it's hard to deny the numbers. take-two's ceo, strauss zelnick, even said that their business is "already a digital business" - pretty wild.

one thing that's got me a little curious is that take-two's mobile business actually took a bit of a hit this quarter. it's not a huge deal, but it's still interesting to see. apparently, it's just because their mobile games didRead more: Full article on www.eurogamer.net
