omg, you guys, i just heard the funniest thing - the artemis ii astronauts are having issues with microsoft outlook in space. like, can you even imagine being on a mission to orbit the moon and having to deal with email client problems? it's just so ridiculously relatable. apparently, one of the astronauts mentioned that they have two outlook instances and neither of them are working, and they're waiting for nasa to remote in and figure out what's going on.

i mean, i'm no expert, but it's pretty likely that the problem isn't just with outlook itself, but with the whole system they're using on the spacecraft. still, it's kind of hilarious that even in space, microsoft software can be a pain. and it's not like it's a crucial part of their mission or anything, but it's still annoying when you're trying to do important work and your tools aren't cooperating.

apparently, microsoft is working on making their apps more native to windows, which should hopefully improve performance and reduce lag. the current outlook app is one of those webview things, which is basically just a browser app wrapped up to run on windows. so, fingers crossed that they'll give it a native rebuild soon. maybe by the time the artemis iii mission launches next year, they'll have all their software issues sorted out.
